I Am a Camera...

(click photos to enlarge)
...and my camera is broken. My Canon PowerShot is broken AGAIN! It is not even two years old and this is the second time that the lense has gotten stuck out in the extended position. On Saint Patrick's Day I was at the Irish pub taking some jolly pictures of the bagpipers when the lense got stuck out and wouldn't retract. A year ago when the same thing happened Canon fixed it at no cost. This year they said the warranty was over and they would charge me to fix it. I sent it in with a letter asking them not to charge me since it is not even two years old and this is the second time it has broken. We'll see what they say.
In the meantime I'm missing the digital camera, it's become like an extension of my right hand. I was at the Farmer's Market today and saw the most beautiful pink tulips in full bloom, but couldn't get a picture of it.
For now, let's go to the Bart Boehlert Archives for some comfort. Above is a photo of yellow roses which cheered the living room during the recent four-day rain. Below are pink roses which we got for one of the snow storm weekends.

And a single white tulip bows in the spot light.

Let's see what happens with the camera. I might have to buy a new one. But one doesn't want to buy a new digital every two years, does one?

I also use Canon Power shot and just upgraded to the Power Shot SD880IS. I love it.

I have had 3 Canon's before and I sent them back to be swapped out for a refurbished one twice. It was $100 and they sent in return a completely upgraded and clean camera. I did not have the choice of color but they always sent the whole deal and the latest model they had.

I am sorry you are having so much trouble as I am a firm believer in Canon. I hope you figure it out. I don't think I could go a week without my camera hanging around my neck.

The archive pics are beautiful. I'm praying to the photography gods that you won't be hit with a repair bill. Happy First Day of Spring!

Love the floral fotos. Is that Belleek in photo #1 and the roses seem to grow out of photo #2.
I hope you get your camera back soon.

Thanks for your comments, all.
Barbara, I do have some Belleek and I love it (I'm Irish!) but the vase is the blackberry collection from Tiffany's which I cherish – received it all as a gift! Photo 2 is the radicchio vase, also from Tiffany's, also a gift. So these things have sentimental value as well.
Cheers,
Bart

How unfortunate! I had my previous canon powershot for 7 years and that is how it died too! But it was so old I just replaced it with another canon powershot and so far no problems. Maybe it's just time to move on to another? I feel naked without the camera!
